Thesis Writing Workshop 2024

FK-KMK UGM. The Implementation Research Program of WHO TDR, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, UGM, conducted a thesis writing workshop on Monday, (27/05) at Artotel Suites Bianti, Yogyakarta. The workshop was attended by all students of Implementation Research and International Health Batch 6.

This two-day workshop aimed to monitor students in completing their theses. The agenda of the thesis writing workshop began with a presentation from Prof. dr. Ari N Probandari, MPH, Ph.D., on completing student theses. She delivered a session titled “Get your thesis done: a practical guideline for your thesis and manuscript submission.”

In her presentation, Prof. Ari focused on preparing draft thesis reports that meet the requirements for the results seminar. In the second session, Bayu Satria Wiratama, S.Ked., MPH., Ph.D., provided material on “Enhancing Academic Writing”

On the second day, the workshop was focused on writing with native speakers from the Pusat Bahasa UGM. The speakers explained topics related to with how sentences can be polished by avoiding errors in syntax, grammar, and mechanics.

Additionally, Riah Wiratningsih, M.Si., from UNS, provided training to students on searching for articles in various reputable journals. Students practiced searching for articles in reputable journals using specific keywords relevant to their research topics.

Prof. dr. E. Elsa Herdiana Murhandarwati, M.Kes., Ph.D., as the Coordinator of the Implementation Research WHO TDR, stated that this workshop was conducted to enhance students’ abilities in completing their final assignments and creating manuscripts that can be published in reputable journals.

Prof. Elsa also hoped that each student could contribute to international seminars or symposiums. This is expected to improve the quality of education. The agenda of this writing workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically goal 4: Quality Education.
