This course will discuss various concepts and application of epidemiology to prevention and control of diseases or conditions that can affect the health of populations. Overall subjects specified in 3 modules, namely: (1) Measurement of health- related events or circumstances, the international classification of diseases, the data collected routinely in surveillance systems and response to health problems. Description health conditions using indicators that reflect the health of the population. (2) The concept of risk factors and protective factors related to health conditions or events in the population and estimates of the effects of risk factors that are based on epidemiological studies to identify the determinants of the incidence of disease (including investigation of extraordinary events), and analysis of results of epidemiological studies by considering the bias, variable between and the modification effect, and (3) study the impact of risk factors to formulate public health policy based on epidemiological evidence.
