For two days (15-16/07), IR-TDR Batch 5 students participated in Social Culture activities at Tembi Tourism Village in Bantul. This activity is part of the cultural introduction and student interaction with the Indonesian community. A total of 18 students from various countries participated in the series of events. The first activity was to make batik. Students create batik motifs using provided patterns. They also observed the coloring process, which resulted in the final product of batik cloth.

Students continued their activities in the afternoon by making pottery. Glasses, flower vases, and other creations are among the many types of pottery made. A group of Pundong Village residents assisted these students in making pottery. Students were invited to spend the afternoon at Cemoro Sewu Beach after making pottery. In the evening, they discussed their impressions of the day’s activities with the lecturers and staff. They describe their impressions and note them down on paper.

On the second day, students started the day by riding bicycle around the village. They went to Mount Mijil, which served as a memorial to Prince Diponegoro during the struggle. After cycling, the students drew on the hand fan. Social Culture is actually an annual agenda carried out by the IR-TDR Study Program to introduce students to various cultures in Indonesia. In 2019, this Social Culture activity was held in the Kebondalem Kidul Tourism Village, Klaten.
